As a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, I am particularly sensitive to the needs of those who have worn the uniform of our nation. Too many Oklahoman veterans are awaiting old claims, denied their right to carry firearms, and are stuck in the Department of Veteran Affair’s endless bureaucracy. I believe that this treatment is insulting and inexcusable. Congress must care for the troops when they are serving, by providing cutting-edge equipment and respectable pay, and then care for their post-military needs upon their return. I will continue to advocate for Oklahoma veterans in Congress and seek out legislation which honors their courageous service.
