Congressman Russell Supports House Resolution Against the UN
Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Russell (OK-5) issued the following statement on his support of H. Res 11, expressing opposition to the US’ abstention from a UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemned Israel’s right to build settlements:
“Anything but a veto by the United States on Resolution 2334 showed a tacit approval of the anti-Israeli sentiment often expressed by the UN. I was dismayed to see President Obama turn his back on our ally in the Middle East, but I am encouraged by the bipartisan support in Congress when it comes to standing with Israel. Let the world see that the United States will always be a friend of Israel, and that they should be allowed to determine their own fate with bilateral negotiations.”
Congressman Russell is a co-sponsor of H. Res 11, which passed the House by a vote of 342-80.
