FY18 NDAA Passes HASC With 11 Russell Amendments
Washington, DC – On June 28, the House Armed Services Committee approved the FY18 National Defense Authorization Act with a bipartisan vote of 60 to 1, authorizing $696.5 billion in defense spending. Congressman Steve Russell (OK-5) was glad to support this year’s NDAA. The bill reforms, repairs, and rebuilds our military, reaffirming national security policy in a dangerous and complicated world. It provides for our troops and their families and helps ensure that our men and women in uniform are fully trained, equipped, and supported.
Congressman Russell proposed 11 amendments to the NDAA, all of which were adopted. These amendments will impact a variety of important issues in our military. They will protect our military’s readiness and training areas, facilitate military housing for our servicemen and women, reform how the military acquires equipment, and reform security clearance procedure for certain contractors.
