Today, the House Republican Steering Committee recommended that Congressman Trey Gowdy (SC-4) be named chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, to succeed Chairman Jason Chaffetz (UT-3).

Speaker Ryan, Chairman Chaffetz, and  Rep. Gowdy released statements on the recommendation after it was announced.

“It was an honor to present my ideas before the Steering Committee,” said Congressman Steve Russell (OK-5). “It went very well. I also look forward to working with Chairman-Elect Gowdy and appreciate his friendship. It will be an exciting time to work on needed reform.”
